Can Fences Be Installed All Year Round?

Because outdoor home improvements such as landscaping and repainting your home’s exterior require warm weather, there’s a common presupposition that fences can only be installed in late spring, summer, or early fall. In reality, however, in-demand fence contractors install year-round. In fact, there are multiple benefits for you as a homeowner when you install early. These include:

1. Getting the Fence Contractor You Want

It goes without saying that the best contractors are always booked first. If you don’t want to hire an unknown contractor that you find last minute because your first choice was already full, try installing in an off season. Once summer hits, everyone will want a new fence, so stay a season ahead of market demand.

2. Shortening Your Installation Timeline

Since there’s generally less demand for outdoor work in winter, you’ll also be able to expedite your fence installation timeline instead of waiting for an opening in your contractor’s schedule.

3. Preparing Your Fence for Winter Weather

If you already have a fence in your yard that’s been there for years and is weather damaged or potentially rotting, it’s time to install a new fence. Your new fence will be able to withstand weather conditions that might cause serious damage or collapse in an older fence.

4. Preserving Your Yard

Another excellent reason to install your fence in an off season is that it’s the best way to preserve your yard. If you carefully attend to landscaping, be that shrubbery or a manicured lawn, installing a fence in winter or early spring is an excellent way to keep from damaging shrubbery or other plant life before it’s in bloom.

5. Being Ready for Summer

Of course, one of the best reasons to install your fence early is that it will make you ready for summer. Whether you plan to host outdoor parties or just kick back and relax in your private backyard sanctuary, you won’t have to worry about factoring in a fence installation when summer hits.

6. Beating the Spring-Time Blues

It may seem counterintuitive, but spring is sometimes when depression levels spike because people are weary from winter weather and ready for a break. As T.S. Eliot wrote in his acclaimed poem The Waste Land, “April is the Cruelest Month.” As many know, beauty is always a wonderful help in these times, so one of the best things you can do is to boost your own home’s beauty with a charming new fence!

Closing Thoughts

There are really only three types of weather that make fence installation impossible: extreme wind, heavy snowfall, and dramatic rainfall. Although a wide variety of weather conditions exist in Denver, CO, extreme weather never lasts long and is always punctured by pleasant conditions. As most residents know, it’s not uncommon to have a sunny day in the middle of winter. So no matter the time of year, if it’s right for you, it’s right for us too!
